Oil Pipeline Inspection

Application of SDRs in Oil Pipeline Inspection
SDRs can be flexibly deployed along oil pipelines. Fixed SDRs are installed at critical monitoring points such as valve stations and compressor stations, while mobile SDRs are carried by inspection personnel or mounted on vehicles and drones. These radios rapidly form a multi-hop, self-healing wireless monitoring network along the pipeline without relying on existing infrastructure.

The system enables real-time transmission of pipeline pressure, flow rate, and temperature data, supporting the immediate upload of high-definition video from inspection sites. Inspection personnel can transmit on-site video and monitoring data in real-time through the mesh network, while valve station radios automatically report equipment status and security alerts. Drones equipped with SDRs conduct aerial inspections along the pipeline, transmitting video of key sections and potential hazards back to the command center in real-time.

Compatible with existing SCADA systems, the network facilitates interconnectivity between wired and wireless monitoring devices. Its anti-interference capability ensures stable communication in complex environments like deserts and mountainous areas, while multi-hop relay overcomes signal blockages in non-line-of-sight conditions. The system also supports rapid emergency networking for sudden leaks or security incidents, enabling real-time on-site data transmission and providing reliable communication support for emergency command and response.
